The Lycan King and His Dark Temptation – Chapter 78

Chapter 78

— VALERIA

I had just summoned more crows to distract them again when I didn’t get the chance.

Dave’s massive hand grabbed my wolf’s hind leg and yanked me off balance, sending me tumbling into a pile of dried leaves. The impact wasn’t huge—but the strain on my leg sent searing pain through me.

Through the thin shafts of sunlight filtering into the graveyard, I saw Dave’s enormous lycan form closing in, his claws aimed at the flag clenched between my teeth. It felt like we had lost.

Dizzy, I shook my head and tried to rise.

Then, less than a meter away, Dave squared his shoulders, preparing for battle—just in time to confront a massive figure emerging from the fog, roaring with fury.

“Pick on someone your own size!” Beof growled at Dave—but honestly, Beof wasn’t just “Dave-sized.” Towering nearly three meters tall, with bulging muscles and pure white fur, Beof was larger even than Aldric’s lycan form. Scars crisscrossed his pale pelage, only enhancing his ruthless presence.

They clashed instantly, powerful limbs colliding in defiance of the forest’s misty calm. But I didn’t stay to watch. Juliette, who had been converging toward me, froze at the sight of Beof stepping in.

I took the chance: pushing off from the leaves, I struggled to my feet and ran again, the cold breeze brushing past my dark fur as I disappeared into the woods. My Omega form might be small, but speed was my secret advantage.

From behind, Celine’s voice echoed in my mind: “Win, Valeria! We’re counting on you!”

A pained howl followed—Juliette intercepted and held Beof, not chasing me anymore. Yet I knew the hardest part was still to come: the sentinel guarding the fort lay ahead, waiting in silence, hidden behind the fog.
